Thematic ETFs, including those focused on digital assets and crypto-mining operations, have been among the casualties of the changing market environment in 2022. At least two crypto-focused funds, including the Volt Crypto Industry Revolution and Tech ETF and the Viridi Bitcoin Miners ETF, have been shuttered. Additionally, the VanEck Digital Assets Mining ETF has also been approved for liquidation.

“After weak markets in 2022, many asset managers have reassessed their product lineups,” said Todd Rosenbluth, head of research at ETF data-provider and research consultant VettaFi.
