Generation Z ETF is Shutting Down

An exchange-traded fund that tracked US companies adhering to the values of Generation Z is shutting down barely a year after its launch. The Generation Z ETF, which featured top holdings in companies such as Duolingo and Tesla, will cease trading and purchases at the end of the session on March 17. The ETF’s sub-adviser, Alkali Fintech, blamed the “macroeconomic climate” and sluggish market for the fund’s closure, stating that it had seen minimal inflows throughout its existence. The ETF’s performance had fallen 26% over the past year through Thursday, and its closure was not a surprise, given the highly competitive ETF environment, according to Todd Sohn, ETF strategist at Strategas Securities.
